The League of Jewish Women of Brazil, founded in 1959 in Rio de Janeiro, is affiliated with the International Council of Jewish Women. It is a voluntary organization whos goal is to improve conditions for Jewish woman and to create the development of better healthcare in the communities where they live by cooperating with governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Objectives: To train volunteers to become socially active; to provide continuity through partnering cultural programs and events; to spread the values of Jewish tradition; to create goodwill and understanding between different groups of people and removing barriers; to stimulate all woman to participate in community work.

The financial independence of woman is the first step in the exercise of full citizenship. Women, who yesterday did not have a FUTURE are confident of their FUTURE today.


1959 – 2009
